  1. Well done Rachel, you speak very clearly throughout your vlog and you keep a good engagement with the viewer by being confident in front of the camera. I like how you talked about Justin Peck showing equality through the dancers he works with, as I think that this is a unique perspective on considering his impact in the industry. Have you read any reviews of Justin Peck's work - was his work received positively by audiences?

    1. Thank you for your comment Mhairi. One way Justin Peck has challenged the classical ballet stereotype, is by having his dancers wear trainers rather than ballet shoes in one of his pieces. Stereotypically, they wear ballet shoes. In answer to your second question, I believe that Justin Peck has changed the audiences perspective on dance. As previously I read a review that said “Justin Peck is making dance cool”. Implying that people’s opinion of dance perhaps being boring, is now changing. Therefore Justin Peck has successfully changed peoples of dance in a positive way.

  4. Well done Rachel, this is a good vlog! You have included great detail and content. It was very interesting to hear about the effect Donald Trump becoming president had on the dancers!
How does Justin Peck present the idea of culture into his work? After finding this research, how has Peck's work influence your own choreography?

    1. Thank you for your comment Louisa. In answer to your question about culture: the idea of equality used to be a common problem in the dance industry, but in Justin Pecks choreography he presence the idea of equality by having all the dancers work together as a team. And by having dancers of all different races in his work, this challenges cultural stereotypes and expresses the idea that dance is for everyone. After finding out that Peck includes everyday issues in his own choreography, I felt like this idea linked well to my solo, as I present the idea of living with depression throughout my piece, which is a very common illness in today's society.

  5. This vlog is very thorough and you presented yourself well to the camera.
Peck's movement style is clearly shown in your piece and I want to know why you chose him as your main practitioner out of the others. What made him stand out for you?

    1. Thank you Hannah. I chose Justin Peck for many reasons, but the main reason being that I preferred his style of work to the other two practitioners. I feel like his creative process comes across very clearly to the audience, the use of constantly changing the formations of the dancers makes his choreography very exciting.
